empire Interactive proudly announces its agreement with Jeff Johnson and Jeff
McBride to exclusively distribute the critically acclaimed Stars!
Germantown, MD - November 1, 1996 - empire Interactive announced its agreement
with Jeff Johnson and Jeff McBride to exclusively distribute Stars!, the only
full-blown interstellar strategy game for Microsoft Windows. Stars! is
fast-paced and simple to play while allowing complex and clever strategies:
build starships, discover and colonize new planets, research new technologies,
manage the essential elements of world economies, defend the empire and destroy
the enemies. Stars! also supports all modes of multi-player play. Stars! will
be available in January, 1997 for PC CD-ROM.
Because a playable demo of Stars! is available to gamers via the World Wide
Web, it has already received critical acclaim from the media:
. "This game proves that it doesnt have to be CD-ROM to be good."
- Computer Game Player
. "Stars! is an excellent game with the appearance of a handmade labor of
love which countless hours of play have done nothing to diminish."
- Strategy Plus
. "(Stars! is) something strategy players have been yearning for -
a complex, intricate space strategy game with easy-to-use interface...
The designers of Stars!, Jeff Johnson and Jeff McBride, are very happy to be
affiliated with empire Interactive. "We believe that empires broad distribution
network will lead to significant growth in the Stars! player community. We will
still be able to maintain the close relationship with our customers while
providing them with the many requested features and services that werent
feasible had we decided to publish a boxed version ourselves." For example,
there will be sound effects, music and a 3D introduction, none of which were
present in the playable demo together with a 200 page manual and full color
player aid cards.
- PC Gamer
Chris Mate, President of empire Interactive, added: "We are extremely fortunate
to add a quality title like Stars! to our production schedule. The addictive
nature of Stars! can only strengthen our already impressive fall line-up."
